Talking about lobster prices in Dallas is actually unusual but since the price-drop have reached the Dallas area here's a story from the Dallas Morning news.

Talk about far-reaching impacts of the global economic crisis. Lobster prices are so bad for Maine lobstermen that many are already pulling their traps up for the winter and selling their lobsters for hamburger prices.

Prices are falling in Dallas, too, according to a large local seafood supplier, although they haven't reached the hamburger level. The problem is slowing demand.

The impact is felt acutely in Maine, where lobstermen can barely sell what they've caught, according to the Courier-Gazette in Rockland. October is normally the heart of the season, notes the newspaper's Web site. But lobstermen are selling their lobsters for $3 a pound at the dock and ending their season early.

Another Maine community held a lobster bake to support its local lobster fleet. Lobsters sold for $3.50 each, according to the Portland Press Herald, and thousands of people showed up for the recent Stonington pier event.

Not everyone's prices are dipping locally – Central Market still sells live lobsters for $17.99 a pound – but if demand slows enough, prices could drop to the point where lobster becomes a tasty buy.

Text messaging in the philippines for $.50? Are they putting more importance in the texting price rather than the food prices??!
